Over the Chusuk weekend
So I am finally posting pictures of some cool stuff that happened over Chusuk. I can't even believe that we managed to pack so much stuff into three days. But I guess that's what not having any responsibilities over the weekends can do for a gal.
Thursday in Cheongju...
Coffee at the top level of the The New Yorker. A patio! Except that people smoked. And I didn't have a coffee, but a sweet potato latte. It was lavender-colored. |
View of Cheongju from the top |
I heart Noriter. It's the trendiest little nook of a restaurant that serves fajitas, omelettes and other manna dropped from heaven. |
Yummy non-Korean food. That's what the weekends are actually for--bbq pork omelette--wow! |
I had to climb several Korean inches to get to the top of that cairn |
Whaaa?
And then we met the trendy Korean girls |
... and Ochang

As if we hadn't done enough in one day, Amber and I went to the top of Ochang that same day. At the viewing deck. It was gorgeous! |
We met a set of deaf Koreans outside a Family Mart. Would you believe it was actually easier to communicate with them? Go figure.
Saturday...
We went to the Buddhist Temple at Cheongju on Saturday so we could catch the sunset.
...and Sunday
C'est magnigfique, n'cest pas? Top of Ochang, view of the city. |
David, the amazing fire starter. I wish we'd taken a video of four people trying to get the flames going of our little fire. Then David comes along and with magical fire breath makes appear out of thin air. You think I'm exaggerating. |
We may have started lighting fireworks from our hands. But I take the credit for being the first to think it was ok to do. |
