Anyway, life goes on. I'm not super busy with property management this week, but other things are happening or are being set up so that I will be busy in a couple of weeks again. I took my notary test this past weekend, and pretty confident that I passed, although now I'm also thinking that I jinxed it by thinking that.
I was reading Real Simple magazine today at the library and there were so many articles about not shopping for Christmas, or making gifts for Christmas, or spending less. for Christmas. I would be fine with making thoughtful gifts for Christmas, but I don't know if my family is really ready to go cold turkey. It's all very well to say that the best policy is to speak to your loved ones, but I am definitely feeling the social pressure of gifting this year. In the end, I probably still won't do it, but there is pressure nonetheless. I also found and teared-up over a heart-breaking essay about a mother's inability to help a grieving daughter (the daughter's essay on losing her fiancee while on vacation is now on my to-read list). Here's the link: http://www.realsimple.com/magazine-more/inside-magazine/life-lessons/letting-go-00000000025752/ The daughter's essay was also featured a couple of years ago. The "eww" topic for this blog actually came from the Colbert Report--Stephen reported a story about a new parasite that scientists found off the coast of New Jersey, and... well, it's pretty gross and weird. You may not want to watch it if you have a tender stomach, but I think that the adaptability of creatures is amazing. Enjoy!
