Eww!

I'm a little frustrated by my Blogger and Google apps in general this evening. I'm trying to use Picasa to download and upload my photos, but it's not exactly an intuitive program, and it requires many steps to synchronize to my Blogger, which is the opposite of what I wanted to achieve by switching everything over to Google. I'm hoping to find a good tutorial soon.
Anyway, life goes on. I'm not super busy with property management this week, but other things are happening or are being set up so that I will be busy in a couple of weeks again. I took my notary test this past weekend, and pretty confident that I passed, although now I'm also thinking that I jinxed it by thinking that.
I was reading Real Simple magazine today at the library and there were so many articles about not shopping for Christmas, or making gifts for Christmas, or spending less. for Christmas. I would be fine with making thoughtful gifts for Christmas, but I don't know if my family is really ready to go cold turkey. It's all very well to say that the best policy is to speak to your loved ones, but I am definitely feeling the social pressure of gifting this year. In the end, I probably still won't do it, but there is pressure nonetheless. I also found and teared-up over a heart-breaking essay about a mother's inability to help a grieving daughter (the daughter's essay on losing her fiancee while on vacation is now on my to-read list). Here's the link: http://www.realsimple.com/magazine-more/inside-magazine/life-lessons/letting-go-00000000025752/ The daughter's essay was also featured a couple of years ago. Link:  http://www.realsimple.com/magazine-more/inside-magazine/life-lessons/help-wanted-at-last-00000000024151/page2.html
The "eww" topic for this blog actually came from the Colbert Report--Stephen reported a story about a new parasite that scientists found off the coast of New Jersey, and... well, it's pretty gross and weird. You may not want to watch it if you have a tender stomach, but I think that the adaptability of creatures is amazing. Enjoy!
